Erik Adams is an arts and entertainment writer, critic, and editor living in Chicago.

With nearly 20 years of experience in arts and entertainment journalism, criticism, and editing, Erik has built a deep portfolio of clips, contacts, and pop culture expertise. Currently the Entertainment Reviews Editor for IGN, he previously worked on staff at the AV Club (two-time interim Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, TV Editor, Associate Editor, Assistant Editor, and Austin City Editor) and IndieWire (Deputy Editor of Craft and Special Projects), and his writing has appeared in Vulture, EW, Primetimer, and Episodic Medium.

Erik served as a moderator for the Mystery Science Theater 3000 panels at Comic-Con (2020 & 2017), a conversation with Evvie Drake Starts Over author Linda Holmes (2019), a series of Barry Q&As for HBO with Henry Winkler, Bill Hader, and Alec Berg (2018), and the ATX Television Festival (2016 & 2015), and he was a panelist at the Sydney Opera House Bingefest (2016). His work is cited in 33 1/3: Devo’s Freedom of Choice and in the Wikipedia entries for The Simpsons and The Good Place. He’s appeared on 1A (NPR), The Current (CBC), CBSN (CBS), and Bullseye (Maximum Fun/NPR), as a guest speaker at Miami University and Northwestern University, and as an occasional host of the AV Club’s Pop Pilgrims video travel series.

Erik has been a Tomatometer-approved critic since 2013, and The Onion’s Mr. Autumn Man since 2012.
